DeLand, FL – The Volusia County School Board meets Tuesday afternoon and with the first day of school a week from tomorrow, COVID-19 is not on the agenda but it will likely come up during public participation. The board decided to keep masks optional at a meeting two weeks ago but with the continuing surge in new cases, that could change. Both Seminole and Orange county school districts have set 30-day mandates for students to wear face coverings. Something that is on the agenda is approval of a contract with a price tag of $530,000 for the Volusia Online Edgenuity Courses required for the new school year. Families of students enrolled in Volusia Online should receive an approval email by August 11.
