The Volusia County Council next month will be taking up a discussion on one of the most galvanizing issues facing the area: the rate of development. Long one of the chief issues candidates run on when campaigning for local office, the attitudes of Volusia residents on development and what the government can do to curtail it plays a perennial role in local civic discourse. The issue will be discussed at a special Volusia County Council meeting next month, one which is sure to draw enthusiastic participating from the public as they’re afforded their chance to weigh in. Meetings with such hotbed topics often draw hours’ worth of public commenters. The special meeting will take place on Tuesday, January 14th at 4:00 pm. It will be held at the Thomas C. Kelly Administration at 123 W. Indiana Ave in DeLand. Those who wish to make public comment, or even ensure a seat in the building, may be well-advised to arrive early. Those who are unable to attend the meeting in-person but who still want to participate in the process will have an avenue to do so. Public comments can be submitted via email to publicparticipation@volusia.org. The deadline to submit is Monday, January 13th at 4:00 pm.
