A Port Orange woman tragically died after drowning in her swimming pool at home, the Volusia Sheriff’s Office confirmed on Wednesday. She was 73 years old at the time of the drowning. According to the VSO, a call was placed to a residence on Springwater Lane in Port Orange at around 6:15 pm on Monday. The husband of the victim had discovered his wife in their pool, by herself and unresponsive. He pulled her from the pool and then dialed 911. The VSO responded to the scene and emergency responders sadly confirmed that the woman passed away. They confirmed on Wednesday that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the woman’s death. Surveillance footage captured at the couple’s home helped clear up what led to her drowning. Also mentioned in the incident report was that the victim had a history of medical issues. While it’s unclear whether any of these may have played a role in her drowning, the VSO did state that she was known to use the pool to do water aerobics. The woman’s identity was not released, and the VSO offered its condolences to her family.
