President Donald Trump has cast his endorsement for U.S. Representative Cory Mills in his bid for re-election in Florida’s 7th congressional district. Mills is in an effort to retain his House seat amid multiple personal scandals and misconduct allegations. “Congressman Cory Mills is an America First Patriot and Tremendous Champion for the Great People of Florida’s 7th Congressional District!” Trump said in a post to his social media platform, Truth Social. Mills is currently facing Sarah Ulrich in the Republican primary, with several Democrats having already declared to run for his seat. Mills was among several Republican candidates endorsed by Trump on Tuesday. The others were Aaron Bean, Carlos Gimenez, Brian Mast, John Rutherford, Maria Elvira Salazar, and Daniel Webster. Trump has been an ally of Mills in his previous congressional campaigns as well. “Thank you @POTUS for your complete and total endorsement,” Mills said in response. “I will continue to fight for Florida’s 7th District, our great republic, and always put America First.” In February 2025, Mills was accused of assaulting a woman with whom he was reportedly having an extramarital relationship. In August, he was accused by Miss USA 2025 Lindsey Langston of threatening to release explicit photos of her in retaliation for a dispute in their relationship. The personal scandals for Mills came to a head in 2024, when an investigation was launched by the Office of Congressional Ethics. There was movement toward a vote to censure Mills, but the initiative did not come to pass. Cory Mills was first elected to Congress in 2022, and was re-elected in 2024. Having won 58.5% and 56.5% of the vote, his seat has been a target for Democrats hoping to tip the balance of the House back from Republican control.
