Edgewater’s Daniel Johnson was arrested on Friday in connection to an overdose death from 2024. Johnson has been charged with manslaughter for the passing of Isaac Bowen. The death in question occurred on April 21, 2024. Bowen, the victim, was found dead from an overdose on illegal narcotics. A subsequent investigation led police to identify Johnson as the man believed to have sold Bowen these narcotics. The Edgewater Police Department says it obtained evidence that Johnson supplied drugs to Bowen. Text messages, photos, and videos were all reportedly found during the investigation. An arrest warrant was obtained for Johnson. He was taken into custody by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office before later being extradited to Volusia County. Since Friday Johnson has been at the Volusia County Branch Jail, records show. He was charged with manslaughter, and is still in custody as of Tuesday on $150,000 bond. Prior charges against Johnson in Volusia County include child neglect, drug paraphernalia possession, driving under the influence, and alprazolam possession among others.
