An Edgewater resident was arrested early Wednesday morning for an alleged hit-and-run against two people in New Smyrna Beach. 36-year-old Michael Perrelli was taken into custody on two criminal charges before bonding out later that day. The incident in question occurred on Tuesday, June 16 shortly before 7:55 p.m. The New Smyrna Beach Police Department was called to the intersection of North Riverside Drive and Washington Street. After interviewing witnesses, the NSBPD determined an adult female and juvenile male were crossing the street when they were hit by a white sedan. Following the impact, that car is said to have driven away from the scene headed southbound on North Riverside Drive. Before investigators could track him down, Perrelli reportedly turned himself in at the New Smyrna Beach Police station. He was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving injuries and leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury. Perrelli was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail at 1:41 a.m. on Wednesday, according to records. He posted his $7,500 bond and was released at 8:31 p.m. that evening. Prior to this incident Perrelli has no other arrests on record in Volusia County.
