A Palm Coast man was arrested last week after allegedly using a client’s credit card for personal purchases, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office announced. 45-year-old Jesse Modzel was charged with petty theft, principal to fraudulent use of a credit card, and usage of another person’s identification. Detectives with the FCSO opened their investigation into Modzel in December 2025 after a Palm Coast resident reported fraudulent charges on their credit card. The victim still had their card in their possession, the FCSO says, and hadn’t completed the transactions themselves. The transactions were traced to Modzel’s family cleaning business, Breezy Clean. The FCSO said Modzel “had unsupervised access to the victim’s home” and used their card to book a stay at a local resort. An arrest warrant for Modzel was obtained on Friday. He was said to have fled into the home upon seeing law enforcement’s arrival. Deputies then found Modzel in the house’s backyard, the FCSO says, and arrested him there. He was booked into the county jail with two felony charges and one misdemeanor. Modzel was released from custody later that day after posting his $2,500 bond. “This guy thought he deserved a Palm Coast ‘staycation’ on his client’s dime,” Flagler Sheriff Rick Staly said. “He changed the account names to try to hide it, but detectives in our General Assignment Unit followed the money trail back to him. Before you hire someone and give them access to your home, always check their references and criminal history as this was not the first time he had been arrested for theft.” The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office says other customers of Breezy Clean may have potentially been defrauded by Modzel in ways similar to how he was accused in this case. Those who believe they may have had this happen to them are asked to contact the FCSO at (386) 313-4911.
