A new emergency room building has been opened at the Halifax Health’s Port Orange location, the company announced this month as reported by the Daytona Beach News-Journal. The official ribbon-cutting was held on December 14th, bringing the new building into the fold of healthcare services offered by Halifax Health in Volusia County. Already Halifax Health Medical Center of Port Orange offers 80 beds, major surgery, radiology, and a full-service laboratory according to the company’s website. Located at 1041 Dunlawton Ave in Port Orange, the complex is just across the street from the Arby’s and Dahlia restaurants. The newest emergency room building at the Port Orange location is “the only free-standing emergency department in the area staffed exclusively by board-certified emergency room physicians,” according to Halifax Health spokesperson John Guthrie. Diagnostics will be carried out on-site, the announcement says, and patients can be connected to Halifax Health’s specialist network to be referred to the care they need if their ailments extend beyond their emergency room visit. “While this opening represents Halifax Health’s expansion in Port Orange South, additional phases may be explored in the future as part of the system’s broader vision to further enhance local health-care services,” Guthrie continued.
