A man suspected of committing a murder in Gainesville is believed to be on the run in Volusia County, according to a statement by the Daytona Beach Police Department. 31-year-old Xavion Marquee Perry was named by the DBPD in a post to social media on Wednesday. The DBPD considers Perry to be armed and dangerous. Those who believe they’ve seen him are advised not to approach, but instead to call 911 or contact the DBPD with any information about where he is. On Tuesday, the Gainesville Police Department responded to a domestic violence incident at a condo facility. There, they found a 23-year-old woman who had sustained gunshot wounds. She unfortunately passed away at the scene of the shooting. Perry is said to have gotten into his vehicle and left the area immediately after the shooting. According to the Gainesville Police Department, shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday Perry’s vehicle was spotted in Daytona Beach after a prolonged effort to track him. The Daytona Beach Police Department began to pursue Perry with assistance from the Volusia Sheriff’s Office. At some point in the chase, Perry is said to have abandoned his vehicle and taken off on foot. As of Wednesday morning, Perry is believed to still be in Volusia County. Gainesville police say they do not think he’s returned to Alachua County since Tuesday night’s chase. The investigation into the murder and the pursuit for Xavion Perry are both still ongoing as of Wednesday morning. Both cities’ police departments urge residents to contact them with any information that could help locate Perry.
